Thanks to everyone who attended the Sept. 6 ground breaking event at South Valley Junior High - construction begins Sept. 10!
What is the issue?
The area west of I-35 in central Clay County continues to experience significant growth. The cities of Liberty and Kansas City, along with MoDOT and the Liberty School District are working together to ensure the area’s transportation options can meet the community’s growth.
The Flintlock Road Overpass, or Flintlock Flyover, project was identified as one of the area’s priorities. It will address several issues, with a focus on improving safety and reducing congestion at key locations in the area, specifically on Route 152.
In addition, the school district currently makes at least 128 daily bus trips across I-35, transporting more than 5000 kids over the interstate. To help the district move students more efficiently and help lessen the amount of traffic on Route 152, MoDOT and partners will construct the Flintlock Overpass project.
An informational public meeting was held on Dec.13, 2011 at South Valley Jr. High School to gather public input regarding the location and design for the proposed project. More than 40 people stopped by to learn more about the changes to the preliminary plans. Feel free to leave us a comment about the project by clicking the comment now button.
