SALINE COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation will close Route 127 over the Kansas City Southern (KCS) Railroad in Mount Leonard on Monday, July 23 to replace the structure. This is the final bridge in Saline County to be replaced under the Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program. The bridge will remain closed until October 1, weather permitting.
The Route 127 Bridge, built in 1952, will be completely replaced with a wider, safer structure. The more than 300 vehicles using this road daily will need to seek an alternate route until the bridge reopens.
The Safe & Sound Bridge Improvement Program will replace 802 of Missouri's worst bridges, 159 of those bridges in the Kansas City District. Once the Route 127 Bridge is complete, Saline County will have 17 new or rehabilitated bridges.
